Additional information

Maeonia was a small inland community in Lydia whose civic bronze issues are distinguished by unusually detailed magistrate inscriptions — the lengthy legend here records a local archon serving in his first term under a strategos, a level of administrative granularity rare among Lydian civic coinages. Issues attributable to the reign of Septimius Severus from this mint are sparsely documented, and the third group designation (ΤΟ Γ) points to a phyle or subdivision system that remains only partially understood in the scholarship on Maeonians bronze production.
