| Beschrijving keerzijde | The eponymous hero Akmôn gallops to the right on horseback, his chlamys billowing dramatically behind him; he raises a whip in his hand. In the background rises the sacred Dindymos hill, upon which stand two Oreiad nymphs. At the base of the hill reclines the river god Sindros, turned to the left, represented in the conventional manner of a bearded male figure leaning on an urn. The multi-figured mythological composition, a hallmark of Acmonean civic coinage, is framed by a circular Greek legend naming the presiding magistrate and the issuing city. |
