Apollonia ad Rhyndacum was a Mysian city whose civic coinage under the Severan dynasty reflects the intense competition among Asian poleis for imperial favor during this period. Cities struck bronze in their own names partly to advertise loyalty, partly to supply local exchange that the imperial mint had no interest in providing.
The reference V.2#73 places this within Waddington, Babelon, and Reinach's Recueil général corpus — a classification system now over a century old and still the primary reference for many Mysian bronzes, which says something about how thinly this material has been studied since.
