| Beschrijving keerzijde | Hero Dardanos, or possibly Caracalla in heroic guise, depicted on horseback prancing to the right, holding a spear in the right hand and the Palladion — the cult statue of Athena of Ilium — in the outstretched left hand. The equestrian figure is rendered in a dynamic provincial style characteristic of Troadean civic bronzes. The reverse legend ΔΑΡΔΑΝΙΩΝ, identifying the issuing city of Dardanus, is distributed around the field within a beaded border. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Dardanus was a small coastal settlement on the Hellespont whose civic coinage output was minimal even by the modest standards of the Adramyteum conventus. Issues under Septimius Severus are among the rarest attributable to the city, and the ethnic legend ΔΑΡΔΑΝΙΩΝ — used in place of a formal civic title — reflects the town's ambiguous municipal status during this period.
