The emperor's paludamentum is fastened at the shoulder, and the cuirass is depicted with fine relief detail. The Greek legend encircles the bust, running along the periphery of the flan. The portrait reflects the provincial die-cutting style of Mysian workshops during the mid-third century AD. |

The figure is semi-nude, with drapery across the lower body, and the composition conveys the personification of the local river deity central to Apollonia ad Rhyndacum's civic identity. The Greek ethnic legend of the city runs around the reverse field. The style is consistent with provincial bronzes of the Mysian conventus under Philip I. |
