Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Maximinus I (Thrax) facing right, rendered in three-quarter view from behind, revealing the paludamentum draped over the left shoulder and the articulated scales of the lorica segmentata. The emperor's beard is rendered with fine detail characteristic of his portraiture. The Greek imperial titulature legend surrounds the bust within the coin's border.

Reverse description A lion strides vigorously to the right in the field, its head turned back to the left in a rampant posture, rendered with considerable artistic energy. In the upper field above the lion's back, a six-pointed star is positioned within the crescent of a waxing moon, a celestial symbol emblematic of the civic coinage of Anemurium. The city ethnic legend ΑΝΕΜΟΥΡΙΕΩΝ arcs around the upper periphery within a dotted border, while the era date ΕΤΑ (year 1) appears in the exergue below.
