| Description du revers | Tyche, the personification of Fortune and patron deity of Alexandria, seated left upon a throne, wearing the kalathos (modius) upon her head. She rests her right hand upon a rudder set to the ground at her side, symbolising the guidance of fate, while her left arm supports a large cornucopia overflowing with fruits and grain, emblematic of abundance. The regnal year date appears in the field, a standard feature of Alexandrian provincial coinage. The composition is rendered in the classical style typical of the Antonine period Alexandrian mint. |
