Thyatira, a Lydian city better known today as Akhisar in western Turkey, was a productive mint for provincial bronze throughout the Antonine period. This issue dates to the co-regency of Marcus Aurelius and Commodus, following Commodus's elevation to Augustus in 177 AD — a political arrangement that made both men nominally equal rulers, though real power never genuinely shifted. The magistrate name Eudios, rendered here in the genitive, identifies a local strategos whose second term of office the legend specifies, a detail that occasionally helps scholars sequence issues within a single reign.
