| 背面描述 | Two facing cult statues stand on either side of the field in a symmetrical homonoia composition. To the left stands the cult statue of Apollo Didymeus, nude, facing, holding a stag and a bow — the canonical image associated with the great sanctuary of Didyma near Miletus. To the right stands the celebrated cult statue of Artemis of Ephesus, facing, wearing a kalathos (cylindrical headdress), adorned with characteristic supports (lateral braces), in the well-known hieratic Ephesian type. Between the two statues, a stag appears on each side, reinforcing the divine attributes of both deities. The Greek legend in the field or around the periphery reads ΜΕΙΛΗϹΙΩΝ ΕΦΕϹΙΩΝ ΟΜΟΝΟΙΑ, proclaiming concord between the cities of Miletus and Ephesus. |
