Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Macrinus facing right, depicted from the rear in the characteristic Severan three-quarter back view. The emperor wears a laurel wreath, military cuirass with pteruges visible at the shoulder, and a paludamentum (military cloak) draped over the left shoulder. The portrait is rendered in the bold, high-relief provincial style typical of Phrygian civic coinage of the early third century AD. The encircling Greek legend runs along the beaded border of the flan.
