| Obverse description | Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, depicted from the front, with the radiate crown rendered in the provincial style characteristic of Phrygian civic issues. The imperial effigy is presented with military attributes, the cuirass visible at the shoulder. The encircling Greek legend names the emperor with his full imperial titulature running around the periphery of the flan. |

| Reverse description | Heracles depicted standing to the left in a heroic, contrapposto pose, holding his club upright in one hand while carrying the Nemean lion skin over his arm and the infant Telephus in the other. At his feet, a doe is rendered in the lower field, alluding to the Arcadian myth associated with Heracles and Telephus. The Greek legend encircling the design identifies the issuing magistrate and civic authority of Midaeum, typical of the honorific formulae employed on Phrygian provincial bronzes of the Severan and Gordian periods. |
