Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Caracalla facing right, rendered in the robust provincial style characteristic of Phrygian civic coinage. The emperor's effigy displays a wreath of laurel leaves about the head, with the paludamentum visible at the shoulder. The Greek legend ΑΝΤΩΝΙΝΟϹ ΑΥΓΟΥϹΤΟϹ encircles the bust, reading around the periphery of the flan. The portrait conveys the strong, youthful features associated with Caracalla's early imperial iconography as adopted in the eastern provincial mint tradition.
