Alabanda, a Greek city in Caria, held sufficient regional importance to warrant its own conventus — one of the judicial districts Rome used to administer Asia Province without direct micromanagement from Ephesus. Coinage struck under Vespasian at such civic mints was largely a local affair, authorized by the provincial governor but funded and organized by the city itself, typically to facilitate market transactions at the regional level.
