Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Valerian facing right, portrayed from behind, displaying the elaborate pteryges of his cuirass and the folds of his paludamentum. The imperial effigy is rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of the Lydian mint of Tralles. A Greek legend surrounds the bust along the periphery of the flan, identifying the emperor by his full titulature.

Reverse description Nike, the winged goddess of victory, advancing briskly to the left, her drapery swept behind her in dynamic motion. She extends her right hand to proffer a wreath, while her left hand holds a long palm branch over her shoulder. The reverse field is surrounded by a two-line Greek inscription divided above and below the figure, naming the local grammateus responsible for the issue and identifying the civic authority of the Trallians.
