正面描述 Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Trajan facing right, rendered in high relief with characteristic Trajanic portraiture. The laurel wreath is clearly delineated around the imperial effigy, with paludamentum visible at the truncation. The surrounding Greek legend runs clockwise along the periphery of the flan. The strike is somewhat irregular, consistent with provincial hammered coinage of the Koinon of Bithynia.

附加信息

The Koinon of Bithynia functioned as a provincial league with authority to strike coins honoring the emperor — an arrangement Rome tolerated precisely because it reinforced loyalty without imperial treasury expenditure. Under Trajan, the koinon was particularly active, reflecting the province's administrative importance as a gateway to the eastern campaigns. Pliny the Younger served as Trajan's special legate to Bithynia-Pontus during this same period, his letters documenting a province in genuine institutional disorder despite its prosperity.

The ΕΙΡΗΝΗ ΣΕΒΑΣΤΗ — "Augustan Peace" — type speaks directly to Trajanic propaganda surrounding the Dacian Wars.
