Reverse description A tetrastyle temple depicted in frontal elevation, its four columns supporting an entablature and pediment; low walls or barriers are shown within the intercolumniations, and closed double doors are visible at the centre. A single pellet or ornament appears in the pediment, possibly representing a cult image or acroterion. The architectural rendering is characteristic of the neokorate temple type issued by Neocaesarea in Pontus to celebrate its status as a metropolis of the Koinon of Pontus. The reverse legend ΚΟΙ ΠΟΝ ΝΕΟΚΑΙϹ ΜΗΤΡΟ(Π) ΕΤ ΡΜΒ identifies the issuing city and provides the Pontic era date of year 142 (= 205-206 AD).
