Reverse description The goddess Athena stands in full figure facing left, helmeted and clad in a chiton and aegis, extending her right hand to present a statuette of Nike and grasping an upright spear with her left hand. A large round shield rests at her feet to the left. The composition is characteristic of the Athena Promachos type adapted for provincial civic coinage, rendered with robust relief on an irregularly shaped bronze flan. The Greek magistrate legend naming the strategos Aurelius Gamikos is distributed across the field.
