| Reverse description | Tyche, the personification of civic fortune, stands facing left in full figure, turreted and draped, holding a ship's rudder in her right hand and a cornucopia in her left. The figure is rendered in the round, standing on a ground line, in a style consistent with mid-third-century provincial bronze coinage of Caria. The encircling legend ΑΦΡΟΔΕΙϹΙΕΩΝ (of the Aphrodisians) runs around the periphery of the reverse field. The composition reflects the standard iconographic formula for civic Tyche on coinage of Aphrodisias during the reign of Philip I. |
