Obverse description Diademed and draped bust of the Roman Senate personified, facing right, rendered in the stylized provincial manner characteristic of Carian civic coinage. The bust displays flowing drapery at the shoulder and a radiate or wreathed diadem atop the head. The legend ΙΕΡΑ ϹΥΝΚΛΗΤΟϹ (Sacred Senate) appears in the field around the bust, identifying the personification. The portrait is rendered with moderate relief typical of Aphrodisian civic issues of the Severan and mid-imperial period.
