| Description du revers | The Dioscuri, Castor and Pollux, depicted standing facing one another at center, each adorned with the characteristic Phrygian cap. Each figure rests on a spear held in the outer hand, while a horse stands to the flank of each twin, filling the field to left and right respectively. The composition is symmetrical and rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of Carian civic bronzes of the Severan to early crisis period. The ethnic legend ΟΡΘΩϹΙΕΩΝ appears in the field or around the periphery, identifying the issuing city of Orthosia. |
