Obverse description Bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of Gaius Julius Verus Maximus Caesar, facing right, depicted in three-quarter frontal view with youthful portrait features characteristic of the Severan-Maximinian period. The bust shows the paludamentum (military cloak) and cuirass, rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of the Lydian mint at Sardis. A circular legend in Greek characters surrounds the portrait within a plain border.
