Reverse description Cult statue of Kore (Persephone) of Sardis depicted standing, facing front, wearing a tall polos crown surmounted by a crescent. The goddess holds her attributes in a rigid, hieratic frontal stance characteristic of ancient cult images. To the left of the figure is a poppy, and to the right an ear of grain (wheat), both emblematic of Kore's chthonic and agricultural associations. The reverse legend naming the magistrate Gaius Asinius Phrygianus, archon of Sardis, encircles the design.
