| Reverse description | The cult statue of Artemis of Ephesus (Artemis Ephesia) depicted standing frontally, wearing the kalathos (cylindrical crown) on her head and the characteristic multi-breasted garment, her forearms extended horizontally and supported by lateral props or supports. A stag stands on either side of the goddess, flanking the central figure in the heraldic fashion typical of Ephesian Artemis iconography on provincial coinage. The reverse legend naming the magistrate and the civic ethnic of the Synnadan mint encircles the design in Greek script. |
