Reverse description A hexastyle temple depicted in frontal elevation, its six columns framing a cult statue of Demeter standing left within the naos. The veiled goddess holds ears of grain in her right hand and a long sceptre in her left, referencing her role as deity of the harvest. The reverse legend in the exergual and peripheral field identifies Nicomedia by its civic honorifics. The architectural rendering is characteristic of the neocorate temple-type coinage issued by Bithynian civic mints during the Antonine period.
