| Obverse description | Youthful bare-headed bust of Commodus as Caesar, draped in cuirass and paludamentum, facing right in three-quarter front view. The portrait renders Commodus with the soft facial features characteristic of his earlier coinage as heir apparent under Marcus Aurelius. The obverse legend is disposed around the field in Greek characters. The cuirass and paludamentum draping lend an imperial martial quality to the effigy. |
