| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, rendered in three-quarter view from the rear, with the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder. The imperial effigy displays the characteristic short beard and curled hair associated with Hadrianic portraiture. The encircling Greek legend names the emperor in his full titulature, divided across the field. |

| Reverse description | The Pharos of Alexandria depicted as a multi-tiered lighthouse tower, rendered schematically with a broad base, an intermediate platform flanked by what appear to be tritons or sea-creatures on either side, and a crowning upper stage surmounted by a standing statue. The Pharos, one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world, was a celebrated symbol of Alexandria and appears frequently on the city's coinage. The regnal year date L ΚΑ (year 21) is inscribed to the left of the monument in the field. |
