Obverse description Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Gordian III facing right, portrayed in the youthful manner characteristic of his reign. The emperor's effigy is rendered with fine detail, the radiate crown prominently displayed above his features. The encircling Greek legend reads ΑΥ Κ ΜΑΡ ΑΝΤ ΓΟΡΔΙΑΝΟϹ ϹΕΒ, identifying the emperor by his full imperial titulature. The flan is slightly irregular, typical of provincial Lycian bronze coinage of the mid-third century AD. The surface preserves a deep green patina with areas of earthen encrustation.
