| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, rendered in three-quarter view from the rear, with the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder and the pteryges of the cuirass detailed at the lower truncation. The imperial effigy is boldly modelled in high relief, characteristic of Mysian provincial coinage of the mid-third century AD. The encircling Greek legend runs clockwise around the obverse field. |
