| Beschrijving voorzijde | Confronted busts of the co-regents: to the right, the radiate, draped, and cuirassed effigy of Emperor Gordian III seen from the rear, and to the left, the diademed and draped bust of Empress Tranquillina. The two portrait busts face one another in a dynastic pairing composition characteristic of Roman provincial coinage. The surrounding legend names both rulers with their imperial titulature in Greek. |
