| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, depicted three-quarter front view, with paludamentum visible over the left shoulder and muscled cuirass with elaborate detail. The circumferential Greek legend runs around the periphery of the flan, partially legible due to wear and flan irregularities. The portrait displays the characteristic youthful features associated with Gordian III's civic coinage of Pamphylia, rendered in the provincial die-cutting style of Aspendus. |
