A panther, sacred animal of Dionysus, is depicted to the lower left, adding a characteristic attribute to the composition. The reverse legend encircles the field, naming the local magistrate responsible for the issue. The scene reflects the strong Dionysiac religious tradition maintained by the city of Tabae in Caria throughout the Roman Imperial period. |
