Obverse description Bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of Severus Alexander as Caesar facing right, depicted from the rear in the characteristic provincial style. The portrait renders the young prince with careful attention to drapery folds over the shoulder and the contours of the military cuirass. A Greek legend encircles the effigy along the periphery of the flan. The overall style is consistent with the provincial bronze coinage of the Lydian mint of Sardis during the Severan period.
