| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Elagabalus facing right, depicted from behind with the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder. The portrait, rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of the Sardian mint, displays the characteristic features of the young emperor. The encircling Greek legend names the emperor by his official titulature. |

| Reverse description | Helios, the solar deity, standing facing atop a quadriga in motion, his head turned to the left. The god raises his right hand in a gesture of benediction or salutation, while his left hand holds a small cult statue, possibly that of Artemis of Ephesus or a local Sardian deity. The composition reflects the importance of solar cult worship under Elagabalus and the civic pride of Sardis as a thrice-neocorate city. The encircling legend records the name of the local archon Hermophilos and the honorific status of the city. |
