| Reverse description | Two standing or seated divine and heroic figures are depicted in the reverse field. To the left, the hero Lakedaimonios stands facing, his head turned to the right, holding a branch and a spear, with a shield placed beside him. To the right, Zeus Akraios is seated facing left, holding a Nike in his outstretched right hand and a long sceptre in his left. The composition reflects the civic pride of Smyrna through the juxtaposition of local mythological heritage and Olympian cult imagery. The reverse legend, distributed around the field, records the name of the strategos Herakleides and references the homonoia with Lakedaimon. |
