| Obverse description | Laureate bust of Emperor Commodus with long beard, draped in cuirass and paludamentum, facing right and viewed from the rear in the characteristic provincial style. The effigy conveys imperial authority through the military dress and the laurel wreath crown. The obverse legend in Greek characters encircles the bust, identifying the emperor by his full titulature. The provincial die-cutting reflects the artistic conventions of the Lydian mint workshops of the late second century AD. |
