| 裏面の説明 | The Anatolian lunar deity Mên depicted standing, facing the viewer with head turned to the right, wearing a distinctive Phrygian cap and a crescent attribute on his shoulders, emblematic of his astral character. In his right hand he holds a long sceptre, while his left hand grasps a torch around which a serpent is coiled, referencing chthonic and healing associations. The figure stands in a frontal hieratic pose typical of provincial divine representations from the Maeander valley region. The surrounding Greek legend attributes the issue to the grammateus Flavius Bassus and identifies the civic authority of Magnesia. The reverse field is heavily worn but the principal iconographic elements remain identifiable. |
