| Reverse description | Turreted and veiled bust of Tyche facing right, the mural crown rendered as a crenellated tower atop the head, with a long veil falling behind — the civic personification of Gaza depicted in the conventional Hellenistic tradition. The Greek legend IC ΓΑΖΑ (year 210, Gaza) is disposed in the field to either side of the bust, denoting the Seleucid era civic dating. The overall composition is characteristic of the autonomous bronze coinage struck by the city of Gaza under Roman provincial authority. |
