| Beschrijving keerzijde | The Dioscuri, Castor and Pollux, depicted as two nude or semi-draped male figures standing facing one another at centre, each holding a spear or sceptre. A horse stands to the outer side of each figure, flanking the composition symmetrically. This reverse type reflects the strong Hellenistic numismatic traditions of the Pontic colonial mint at Sinope, where the twin deities were a long-established civic emblem. The field is largely plain, with no visible legend or exergual inscription on this example. |
