Obverse description Radiate and cuirassed bust of Septimius Severus facing right, presented in three-quarter frontal view, with the radiate crown clearly rendered above the imperial portrait. The emperor wears military cuirass with visible pteryges at the shoulder, conveying his role as commander. The Greek legend encircles the bust along the periphery of the flan, reading partially due to the coin's irregular edge. The portrait displays the characteristic bearded physiognomy of Severus as rendered in the provincial coinage tradition of Bithynia.
