Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Pupienus facing right, rendered in three-quarter rear view, a presentation typical of the joint reign coinage of 238 AD. The imperial effigy is shown with paludamentum fastened at the shoulder, conveying military authority. The Greek legend encircles the bust along the periphery of the flan. The portrait displays the characteristic bearded features associated with Pupienus on provincial bronze coinage. The overall style is consistent with the civic mint tradition of Miletus during the Severan and post-Severan period.
