Reverse description The archaic cult statue of Apollo Clarios (kouros type) depicted standing, facing right, with both arms hanging rigidly at the sides and fists clenched in the canonical Archaic Greek pose. The idol stands on a base or plinth and reflects the famous xoanon venerated at Colophon, a landmark type on Colophonian civic coinage of the Roman Imperial period. The reverse legend, disposed around the field, names the presiding strategos under whose authority the coinage was issued.
