Reverse description A horse prancing to the right bears upon its back a large coiled serpent, its body rendered in successive curved bands rising above the animal's spine — a type associated with the civic cult and sacred serpent traditions of Flavian Philadelphia. The horse is depicted in a lively, animated pose with raised forelegs. A multi-line Greek legend surrounds the design in the field and border, identifying the local magistrate and the neocorate status of the city. The flan exhibits edge chips, particularly at the lower reverse.
