| 表面の説明 | Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Nerva facing right, rendered in the provincial style typical of Pontic civic coinage. The effigy displays the emperor's characteristic aged features with a relatively thin neck and naturalistic hair arrangement beneath the laurel wreath. The encircling Latin legend reads IMP NERVA CAESAR AVG P M TR P COS III P P, running clockwise around the periphery of the flan. |

Sinope's civic bronze issues under Nerva reflect a city still coining under its own name and magistrates despite nearly two centuries of Roman colonial status — the colony had been established by Julius Caesar in 45 BC, and the abbreviated formula C I F on these coins marks it as Colonia Iulia Felix. The year AN CXLII counts from that Caesarian foundation, placing this issue precisely in 97 AD, the single full year of Nerva's reign before Trajan's adoption.
Nerva died in January 98, making civic bronzes dateable to his sole reign relatively narrow in production window.
