| Beschrijving voorzijde | Bare head of the emperor Nero facing right, rendered in the youthful portrait style characteristic of the early Neronian period. The effigy displays close-cropped hair with the typical fringe of curls across the forehead. The circular Greek legend ΝΕΡΩΝ ΚΛΑΥΔΙΟΣ ΚΑΙΣΑΡ surrounds the portrait, identifying the emperor by his full titulature. The die-work reflects provincial engraving traditions of Phrygia. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Cotiaeum, a Phrygian city in the Synnadean conventus, was among the provincial mints that honored Agrippina the Younger during the brief window when Nero's relationship with his mother still permitted — or demanded — public deference. That window slammed shut in 59 AD when Nero had her murdered. Provincial bronzes naming Agrippina Augusta issued under Nero are consequently confined to the first years of his reign, making the chronological range here effectively tighter than the regnal dates suggest.
