The magistrate name partially preserved here — ΚΛ ΒΑΛΕΡΙΑΝΟΥ — suggests a local official of the Claudian gens, a family name that spread widely through the Greek East following Claudius's extension of citizenship in the first century. The "(sic)" notation on ΒΛΑΥΔΕΩ flags a non-standard spelling of the ethnic, a variation seen on a handful of Blaundus issues and likely attributable to an engraver working from dictation or an imprecise model die.
