The civic title ΑΔΡΙΑΝΩΝ ΚΙΑΝΩΝ — "of the Hadrianic Cianians" — reflects an honorific awarded to Cius by Hadrian during his extensive tour of the eastern provinces in the early second century, a trip that showered cities along his route with titles, buildings, and benefactions in exchange for loyalty and flattery.
