| Reverse description | Two togate emperors, Marcus Aurelius and Lucius Verus, standing facing one another in the field, each clad in the toga and holding a scroll in the outer hand, their right hands clasped in a gesture of concordia (dextrarum iunctio). This scene of imperial harmony was a common reverse type on Greek Imperial bronzes struck at the outset of the joint reign. The ethnic legend ΗΡΑΚΛΕΩΤΩΝ (of the Heracleotans) appears in the field, identifying the issuing civic authority. |
