Reverse description Androklos, the mythological founder of Ephesus, depicted in dynamic striding pose to the right, thrusting a spear downward at a wild boar charging to the right. The hero is shown in hunting attire, his body in vigorous forward motion, with a dog crouching at his feet in the lower field to the left. In the exergue, a partial legend or control mark is visible. The scene commemorates the foundation myth of Ephesus, in which an oracle commanded Androklos to found a city where a boar would lead him, a theme prominently featured on Ephesian civic coinage. The Greek legend is distributed around the upper and lower periphery of the reverse field.
