Reverse description Two standing deities facing one another within a dotted inner circle, identified tentatively as Zeus and Hera: Zeus (?) standing facing with head turned left, holding a long sceptre in his left hand, and Hera (?) standing facing with head turned right, holding a long sceptre in her right hand. Surrounding the central group, the twelve signs of the Zodiac are arranged in a circular band delimited by a dotted border, a distinctive feature of Amastrian civic coinage reflecting the city's astronomical iconographic tradition. The Greek civic legend is inscribed around the outer field, identifying the issuing city and the year-letter Η (= year 8).
