Obverse description Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, seen from the rear, with the paludamentum fastened at the shoulder. The youthful imperial effigy is rendered in typical provincial style, with finely striated hair beneath the laurel wreath. The encircling legend IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG runs along the beaded border.

Reverse description The personification of Moesia Superior stands facing left, her arms extended to either side, holding a patera or olive branch; to her left, a bull stands right, and to her right, a lion stands left, both animals serving as symbols of the two legions (Legio VII Claudia and Legio IV Flavia) garrisoned in the province. The colonial legend P M S COL VIM appears above, with the regnal year AN V inscribed in the exergue or field, denoting the fifth year of the Viminacium civic era.
